A Biomass heating system uses wood instead of fossil fuels. Wood pellets, chips or logs can either provide heating to a single room or can be used to power a central heating and hot water boiler.
Standalone room heaters (eg wood burning stoves) have gained in popularity in the last few years as more and more people look for cheaper and efficient ways of heating their homes. These types of stoves are highly efficient and also add a warm and cosy feel.
Biomass boilers are particularly useful in rural homes that have a lot of space and are not connected to traditional fuels such as gas. They can run concurrently with other Green Deal measures such as solar panels and will also give you a ready supply of hot water.
